According to Bleeping Computer, Microsoft has delayed pushing Windows 11 24H2 version updates to devices with certain Ubisoft games installed. Microsoft took this measure because users encountered some Ubisoft games crashing after installing the version update, and even failed to run normally when starting.

Microsoft stated in its official help document: "After installing the Windows 11 24H2 version, users may encounter some Ubisoft games that become unresponsive. These games may crash during startup, loading, or gameplay." To protect the user's update experience, Microsoft decided to implement a compatibility pause on devices with these games installed to prevent these devices from receiving 24H2 version updates.

The affected Ubisoft games include Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Assassin's Creed: Origins, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Star Wars: Outlaws, and Avatar: Pandora's Frontier. In addition, some other games such as Far Cry and Need for Speed: Untamed may also be affected.

For those who have installed the 24H2 version update and encountered problems, Microsoft recommends that users can temporarily roll back to the 23H2 version until the relevant issues are resolved. Although Ubisoft has released a hotfix patch to ensure that Star Wars: Outlaws can run normally under the 24H2 version, it is still necessary to wait for Microsoft or Ubisoft to provide a permanent fix for all affected games.
